Even if I don't particularily feel space or memory constrained, I'm
often amazed at the bloat I see. Since the topic is on documentation,
I'll only slightly share some recent related grief, as I lately rebuilt
the pulsar-zone repository here:

We used to keep lyx-xforms around, and the GUI applications we need are
Gtk2. Unfortunately LyX xforms support was dropped and QT is too large
to justify installing it as a second toolkit for a single application
which we (fortunately) seldom-used, so we decided to drop it.

I was also quite amazed at the 191 tex-* packages that got built and
installed when claws-mail documentation building required html2ps,
which needs teTeX (which was admitedly also huge before, but only
installed a few packages, not 191). Fortunately those were only
build-dependencies, and the other boxes using pkg_add off that
repository are spared :)

But oh well, I guess that's "progress" and vendor lockin avoidance...
and sorry for the noise.
