It is also interesting to note that we already provide different
sets for installation such as base.tgz, comp.tgz, etc.  No one
seems to complain that X11 is not part of a minimalist install and
yet we do provide sets for it.  And certainly, a C compiler is not
necessary when you are setting up a compiler but it is more convenient
to maintain the C compiler as part of the src tree and package it
up as a different set than it is to maintain it in pkgsrc.

And so, there are more than two options for any particular piece of
software.
