Re: Possible to run Android on QEMU in NetBSD?

Hello.

I'm working on the porting of some Android structures, like binder, that will make it possible to run a decent version of Android on top of FreeBSD without using qemu or bhyve. I will use this on the phablet that I'm building,to make it possible to run some dedicated Android applications on top of it. The development is slow, because this is a long time project that I'm doing with the assistance of Claude. I'm a 50 years old man retired from work,so I'm always short on money and probably my projects will not be completed after my death. I have a lot of very nice projects. I really want to finish some of them. The only chance I have is to  find someone who likes them and can share his/her Claude tokens to see them completed.

For now I've improved the bhyve acceleration for qemu on the X86-X64 / FreeBSD machines. A nice experiment could be to try to virtualize Android with bhyve/qemu on the PC. Doing this using bhyve is not possible. But the usage of qemu is another story.

It might be, but I have not seen reports of anyone doing this.   I am
not sure if qemu has support for particular phone models or the generic
phone that seems to be part of the android system emulator that's part
of the (partly proprietary) Android Studio.

I would recommend trying Android Studio under Debian and then after you
understand better you could start to investigate running under NetBSD.
