I wrote that bug up in https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=607775
It now seems to be gtk version dependent, as a NetBSD/amd64 box with
gtk 2.16 (so older than 2.18), yet cairo 1.8.8 doesn't show the bug...
