NetBSD 20111208-0740Z AMD64 snapshot primary bootstrap hangs/reboots

Hi:

Downloaded the latest available NetBSD snapshot 20111208-0740Z for AMD64
architecture.

On powering up the device, the CD is loaded and the NetBSD/x86 cd9660 Primary
Bootstrap is executed.

The following lines are displayed.

NetBSD/x86 cd9660 Primary Bootstrap

NetBSD/x86 BIOS Boot, Revision 5.9 (from NetBSD 5.99.58)
Memory: 639/1964800 k
Press return to boot now, any other key for boot menu
booting cd0a:netbsd - starting in 0 seconds,

Subsequently, either the installer hangs (observed with boot.iso) or it just
reboots the system (observed with amd64cd.iso).

Identical behaviour has been observed with the snapshots for Deember 8, 9 and
10th as well.

One would expect such issues with new hardware or fancy option settings. In my case,
i’m trying out NetBSD on ASUS M2N-MX SE+ board with AMD Athlon64 X2 dual core
processor and 2G DDR2 memory.

The IDE configuration is as follows:
Onboard IDE controller - Disabled
Serial-ATA Devices - Device 0
nVidia RAID function - Disabled

Tweaking the BIOS settings related to ACPI (v1|v2|v3) and ACPI-APIC
(enable|disable) have no impact.

Even with a work-in-progress (NetBSD 5.99.58) since NetBSD 5.1 release in
November 2010 (more than a year ago), the installer should be stable. This is
all the more surprising since both NetBSD 5.99.38 and NetBSD 5.99.48 boot up
fine and install without any issues. OpenSolaris and Gentoo LiveCD boot up fine.

Any suggestions, how do I go about fixing the issue or a possibility of a
workaround ?
