Hobbyists: *) Recently in a @tech-userlevel thread ("break down config") someoneproposed dropping support for ports which _appear_ not to be used anymore and buying e.g. ARM/MIPS boards instead. What about those who still have oldmachines and want to continue using them?
Bad idea, very bad idea. NetBSD is known for it's portability, dropping that would be stupid. Plus why drop it? If you still got old hardware which is fast enough for what you want to do, why would you want an old version if there is no technical reason to not run a recent version of NetBSD? NetBSD dropping portability as a goal would be like OpenBSD dropping security as a goal.
