We did "throw the switch", some two and a half years ago. Various
problems appeared and were noted. These were then, for the most part,
subsequently ignored or shouted down. After a few rounds of this
people stopped bothering and just used MONOLITHIC.

As far as I can recall you're the only person who's made any serious
attempt at addressing any of the big issues...
