Kakoune upgrade

Dear mailing list,

The Kakoune editor currently in pkgsrc is quite outdated (v2020.01.16).
The latest version (v2024.05.18) has major improvements, but also some
breaking changes.

Are there any kakoune users out there that require this old version? Or is
this old version simply a sign of little interest in this tool?

Locally, I have updated my kakoune package and would like to contribute it
back to pkgsrc. What is your advice here? Should we have another kakoune
in wip/ or should I submit a patch to editors/kakoune/ ?
