Still it is important to keep it optional as it plain breaks the build
for *many* pkgs - and it is of zero importance to the user if you
don't use python nor are debugging gnome.

Of course the root cause (likely a binutils bug) should be found + fixed
as well, but it has been hiding pretty persitently so far.
