The card in question surely works in an ordinary PeeCee

yes, but if you'd read the part of my message where I support my
assertion, you'd realize my claim that *all* ordinary PeeCee PCI slots
are 5V only, not just ones ``of similar age'', and working in *any* 5V
slot is proof that the card works at 5V.

Alright, let's try this again with me calmed down a little more. We can stop this because it turns out you were right - he later responded that the slot he tried it in was one of the U30's 5v slots. That doesn't make "that's not it because I say so" any more convincing though.
