configure in devel/diffutils hardwires the macro DEFAULT_DIFF_PROGRAM to 
"diff". In combination with a default GNU_PROGRAM_PREFIX, this leads to a 
non-working gdiff3:

$ gdiff3 foo bar baz

The diff called in this example is Solaris' /usr/bin/diff.
