Hmm, my ADB keybards don't even have altgr keys - could you check if  
yours produces the scancode the keymap expects?

On certain layouts you type accented characters not with alt/altgr/ 
whatever combinations but by typing the accent and then the character.  
The accent key won't immediately produce anything visible hence it's a  
'dead' key. THe nodead layouts leave these things out.
