Re: wired memory leak?

After a few failed attempts (the above didn't work for me,
possibly because I have tcsh as the login shell), but:
csh# ed /tmp/do-glx.sh
/tmp/do-glx.sh: No such file or directory
a
#! /bin/sh
while :; do
glxgears -fullscreen
sleep 2
done
.

q
csh# chmod +x /tmp/do-glx.sh
csh# dtrace -c /tmp/do-glx.sh -n 'fbt::kmem_intr_alloc:entry { @alloc["alloc", arg0, stack()] = count() } fbt::kmem_intr_free:entry { @free["free", arg1, stack()] = count() }' > /tmp/dtrace.out
dtrace: description 'fbt::kmem_intr_alloc:entry ' matched 2 probes
^Cdtrace: pid 19628 terminated by 2

and output from this dtrace, the one below, and my Xorg.0.log can

That plus "vmstat -s | grep "pages wired".
load averages: 3.44, 2.75, 2.28; up 14+02:08:21 11:35:55
227 processes: 226 sleeping, 1 on CPU
CPU states: 0.1% user, 0.0% nice, 0.2% system, 0.0% interrupt, 99.6% idle
Memory: 2344M Act, 1160M Inact, 21G Wired, 511M Exec, 1082M File, 235M Free
Swap: 32G Total, 1934M Used, 30G Free / Pools: 6387M Used / Network: 9K In, 14K
and
5430685 pages wired
with firefox running.
and a repeat of the dtrace run above showed:
: {33} ; while(1)
while? vmstat -s | grep "pages wired"
while? sleep 10
while? end
5492559 pages wired
5491712 pages wired
5569877 pages wired
5555529 pages wired
5548510 pages wired
Ref. the "dtrace.out2" file available at the above link.
> 2. Does the wired memory remain elevated after glxgears exits?
Yes.
> 3. Does the wired memory remain elevated after X exits?
What? Exit X11 and lose all my context?!? Oh, well, maybe I'll
do that, but the reply will come separately.
(It did not, remained at around 20G)
And, for the record, this is 11.0 with:
...
[ 1.000004] cpu0: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz, id 0x306c3
...
[ 1.143333] i915drmkms0 at pci0 dev 2 function 0: Intel Haswell Integrated Graphics Device (rev. 0x06)
...
with the "modesetting" driver.
After a reboot and new X11 session startup, with emacs and a few
xterms (not yet firefox):
load averages: 0.06, 0.37, 0.30; up 0+00:48:33 12:54:20
60 processes: 58 sleeping, 1 zombie, 1 on CPU
CPU states: 0.0% user, 0.0% nice, 0.0% system, 0.0% interrupt, 99.9% idle
Memory: 592M Act, 364K Inact, 278M Wired, 109M Exec, 181M File, 30G Free
Swap: 32G Total, 32G Free / Pools: 170M Used / Network: 1K In
which is more "normal".
My Xorg.0.log is also available at the download link above.
