Re: Rhythmbox

Just a question about how pkgsrc development works in NetBSD. I have seen many

Does it mean that auto builders only test the programs for compiling ok but no one checks if the program actually works fine?

Unless it's a package that they use regularly, I don't think the builders
(or even the maintainers too that matter) test every feature and toggle in
a program. That's just not feasible for a small team like NetBSD's. At most,
they'll just see if the program loads and that basic functionality's working.

For anything else, they rely on users reporting bugs. In this instance, you
can almost see what's happened. Somewhere along the line, Rhythmbox grew a new
Grilo dependency, while some other library was still depending on an older
version of the same library, and no one on the NetBSD side ticked a non-default
check-box in years (which may only have been done when the dependency was
initially brought in).

That's it. Lack of eyeballs. Post a PR as a good citizen.
