Yes, the crash is a bug. If it's because the package is built with multiple versions of the same library, it's probably a pkgsrc bug. If you want to help figure that out, you could set up pkgsrc and build it yourself, or you can look at it with 'obdump -x'. My guess is that it's mostly a pkgsrc bug, made hard by upstream complexity.
