Disconnecting/reconnecting the drive is usually enough to get it working again; but of course I have to fsck it ... It may be an issue specific to my USB/SATA adapter
Oh, thanks for sharing. Computers are frequently a nightmare with hidden surprises. I am a simple user but I imagine those people involved in the internals of the operating system..... Congrats to them for their work!
