That's a reasonably small amount of files. Can you rule out a hardware issue of the drive itself? Maybe doing a (compressed) tar recursively on the contents from the ext2 USB to your internal drive? That would also let you compare performance with rsync. Best Luis
I think the drive is OK. If it were faulty, we should see some error messages in dmesg, shouldn’t we?
