Do your problems happen to go away if you disable ACPI?

I have a freezing problem on my laptop which I so far blamed on ACPI,
(since it goes away if I disable ACPI), but the old kernel that doesn't
exhibit the problem also doesn't support my eth0 variant.

I'm now trying overnight with ath0 disabled, and see what happens.
