In your case I don't know for certain but it
was as above when I had problems.
I was attempting update of package_A
I had deleted package_A
package_B depended on previous version of package_A
install of package_A failed
I had to delete package_B before I was able
to install package_A. In the process package_B
was reinstalled with dependency on new version
of package_A.
I normally modify my pkgchk.conf and use pkg_chk
when doing other than minor updates. This takes
away some of the pain.
