Unless I missed something, I installed a 5.0.1 NetBSD iso which pulled
in XFree86, and it wasn't until I compiled modular-Xorg from pkgsrc
did this then go away.

But you've failed to answer the other more pertinent questions -- I
don't want this thread to be hijacked -- thanks though.
