Maybe pkgtools/pkg_alternatives is your friend. Maybe. What it does is
generate wrappers that point to either different commands in pkgsrc
or ones in pkgsrc instead of base. That won't help with your sshd afaict
but with cmdline tools like, e.g., vi, ksh, etc.
But if you don't pay attention, your vi(1) suddenly becomes a vim which
is why I deeeeeeeeeeeeply hate this package. Anyways, try it..
