Sorry, I forgot to add: In both cases, the target is "release". I can 
manually delete the old versions of the offending directories, but you say 
this should be done automatically? I still don't understand why the files 
for the new kernel version are missing...

Well, I use a wrapper script to separate directories but the exact commands
are:
"./build.sh -m evbearmv6hf-el -U -O ../objdir/evbearmv6hf-el-rpi -T
../tools/ -D ../destdir/evbearmv6hf-el-rpi -R
../releasedir/evbearmv6hf-el-rpi -j 4" for RPI (evbarmhf)
"./build.sh -m i386 -U -O ../objdir/i386-std -T ../tools/ -D
../destdir/i386-std -R ../releasedir/i386-std (-u) -j 4" for GENERIC (i386)
