The teTeX3 meta package was the same kind of install-everything
package.

There are a couple basic packages like texlive-collection-basic,
texlive-collection-fontsrecommended, texlive-collection-latex,
texlive-collection-latexrecommended, texlive-collection-xetex,
depending on your needs.
