And:

But Manuel's point is the show-stopper for that.

Most people here probably never tried to use pkgsrc on anything with <
1 GHz cpu. Compiling Firefox C++ code with gcc is blindingly fast on
such machines compared to make grinding through pkgsrc makefiles.
