I take it closing the xterm (I typed exit at the xterm's prompt),
closes X, too?

Not that I know of.

That wouldn't surprise me either.

Unfortunately, no. It got the same hang, needing a power cycle to clear.

That looks promising. Although it'll be a bit before I can give that a
shot.

genfb. I'm still using the 5.0_RC3 GENERIC.
