Perhaps the app-defaults file for it, installed somewhere your X libararies
will search for it? pkgsrc tends to (well should, sometimes it doesn't)
install everything under /usr/pkg (or whatever your LOCALBASE happens to be).
Anything installed in /usr/pkg/lib/X11/app-defaults (where /usr/pkg is
LOCALBASE) won't be normally seen by anything in the base X11 system.
You can copy files from there to /usr/X11R7/lib/X11/app-defaults (assuming
this is what the problem is) or you can do what I do, and add
/usr/pkg/lib/X11/app-defaults /usr/X11R7/lib/X11/app-defaults union rw,hidden
to /etc/fstab, and then "mount -a" to get it mounted (you could also mount
it explicitly, but mount -a is less to type...)
After that, everything in /usr/pkg/... should show up as if they also
exist in /usr/X11R7/... - the whole thing works seemlessly. Just be sure
that the paths are correct. pkgsrc just keeps installing under /usr/pkg
as it should, but the files you need show up where they're normally found.
(Of course, anything that looks at the /usr/pkg/.. app-defaults directory
will continue to work as well).
Or you can fiddle with the more complex mechanisms that Michael mentioned
in his reply.
