If you're right and it relates to the accented character, the new stricter ctype(3) functions in 11.0 could cause screensaver-related programs to exit when trying to process such a character with a ctype function in an incorrect way (which is unfortunately very common). If your problem indeed reoccurs on wednesday, you could try restarting the screensaver with LIBC_ALLOWCTYPEABUSE=nonempty in its environment (see ctype(3)) and see if it makes a difference.
