Yes, really.  Actually using that here with pkgsrc cyrus-imap.

Which version of Cyrus IMAP are you using? The current release seems to be 3.12. Has anyone tried building it on NetBSD? My WIP package is getting a bit outdated. If I find the time, I could look into updating it, unless someone else is already working on it. At the moment I’m running Dovecot on Linux, though I’d prefer to switch back to Cyrus once my new NetBSD home server is ready.

I still find Cyrus a solid mail server. The newer versions also support CalDAV/CardDAV, which makes them an interesting option as groupware without having to rely on something as heavy as Nextcloud. Dovecot, on the other hand, seems to draw a clearer line between the CE and Pro editions now. It will be interesting to see how that develops — in any case, it’s good to have working alternatives.
