I personally very much prefer Cyrus IMAP for robustness, security, control, configurability, and features, and even support; but sadly pkgsrc is indeed way out of date with it. Even pkgsrc-wip is at least three years behind as the current release is actually 3.12.1. It should be relatively easy to build direct from source though, especially if you don't need some of the more complex features such as Kerberos (really?), or an SQL db (why!?!?), etc. -- Greg A.
