My recommendation is to use dovecot for IMAP and not run POP3 at all.
I think you will find that your config file is pretty small.  My config,
including offering auth to postfix and tls, is 36 lines (ignore blank
and comments).

I just added to dovecot.conf

  !include_try local.conf


My personal guess is that the total work to configure dovecot and
migrate, and deal with issues arising over the next 1-2 years is much
lower than the effort to deal with cyrus.   Many people run dovecot and
there are relatively few gripes.
