By default pkgrsc patches firefox to avoid issues on NetBSD to have
dom.serviceworkers.enabled=false. IIRC things would hang.

You could try switching that setting in about:config

I've just switched it locally to test (firefox-138.0.4, netbsd-10,
amd64), and nothing (Slack, Teams, Element, Gmail, etc) has exploded
*yet*, but the issue may take a while to show if it's still present...
