semi-OT: Glib schemas (was: devel/meld)

what I need to do to make GLib happy?  The meld repository has
schema-files (xml files), and there's a tool installed in the system
called glib-compile-schemas which seems relevant -- I have two pieces of
a puzzle, but I'm not quite sure what to do with them.
