Re: how to limit battery charge level and/or edit uefi settings

Thank you both, Greg and Ryo.

Rest at peace; the very first thing I did after discovering the
battery was dead, was to replace it. This was even before my original
post, which was composed in shock and panic mode.

Unfortunately, the only way to get the HP battery protection function
is to update the BIOS. All methods require a working Windows. See:
https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/ish_3932413-2337994-16
Even more unfortunate is that my only option, using the
key-combination method and a recovery USB, doesn't work. NetBSD boots
no matter what. I suspect that NetBSD overwrote/changed the EFI
environment. The only way I can see to update the BIOS would be to
switch out the disk with one that has Windows installed. It's just
not practical for me to do that.

So one last question, is there some way within NetBSD userland
(including software in pkgsrc) to maintain the battery charge level
between the recommended 20% to 80%?

Thank you both again, and thank you NetBSD Users for all your input and help.

Henry
