NetBSD 9.2 amd64 laptop: no hdmi output, no touchpad

I am trying to use NetBSD 9.2 amd64 on a laptop using modular X11.

I have encountered following problems:

1. There is no output on HDMI monitor when booting or after doing startx

2. Touchpad is not working though USB mouse works

3. xrandr gives the following error:

    xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default

Please advise if more details are needed. I'll share as needed.
