 Sorry for poor formatting. Commands are (as root on my box):
 
 # hdaudioctl list
 # hdaudioctl set 0x00 0x01
 
 0x00 and 0x01 are params for my machine. See output of "hdaudioctl list"
 cmd to see what works for your machine.
