I don't think there's any excuse for anyone to be using POSIX based software like NetBSD and pkgsrc on anything that can't honour POSIX filesystem requirements. For example it's now trivial to create a proper case-sensitive filesystem on a Mac, and to do so without making the root filesystem case-sensitive either (and the latter is still harder to do anyway). Besides, if the original software has both a "Makefile" and a "makefile" or some such in the same directory then the user can't use the package on a system which doesn't support proper case-sensitive filenames anyway, so they won't be using a package which patches both files in the first place! -- Greg A.
