Re: "already installed" and other problems

Using pkg_rolling-replace and a test system to compile updates before
installing them in production solves most of your problems. That's
what I am doing. Actually I try updates first on a NetBSD box (to
check for real show stoppers), then on an OpenSolaris machine (for
future compatibility), and finally on Solaris 10 we use for
production. It's some extra effort, but usually it weeds out the big
problems early enough. And with pkg_chk and pkg_rolling-replace it's
easy to keep a consistent set of packages on the different machines.
