Looked better for a while, but crashed in the end.  It had definitely
been swapping stuff out and back in without crashing -- I provoked that
myself, to check.  However, as it was coming back out of a deep nest of
nbmake/nbgmake processes after building GCC, having to swap each of
those makes back in to continue, it suddenly did it again.

I'm once again trying to complete the build without swap, now...
