Ugh, something wrong building the compiler.

You're using a different OS rev than Al, and this failure is in one of
the pieces that differs, so it _should_ be different. Al, does your
failure look the same?

I have a macppc machine; I should turn it on and try doing a 5.1.2
build of the world. (I've only recently started using 5.x for
anything; the last thing I had on the macppc was 4.x, I think.)

I tried the latest 5.1 source and it did get a little bit farther (I think).

Still does not complete the build. Here is a link:

Just wondering if I am doing something wrong when I setup the netboot. I untar everything with tar -xzpf. In the online docs it says to untar the kernel in one step and then a few steps later to untar base.tgz and etc.tgz with tar -xvpzf which I would think is effectively the same thing or is it? When I did it, I untarred all the tars files in the order they would they would be in with 'ls'. Could it matter what order I untar them in? I can't imagine the problem being with the config of the host system, because the client system boots. All I can think is that something is wrong with the way I installed NetBSD 5.

I really need to get this to work and I just can't understand why it is not working. My goal is to build a custom kernel and userland, then build apache, php and mysql. I think that I can netboot a live server and then I can transfer the netbooted install to the hard drive with 'dump | restore', avoiding any real down time. I really really need to get this working, does anyone have a working NetBSD 5.0, or 5.1 diskless install that they would be willing to share with me? As long as userland builds, then I should have no problem doing a update from source and then build any packages I need.
