I've not seen this problem, and just successfully ran 2009Q3 bulk builds
on Solaris 10 - which pkgsrc release did you download?

I am using pkgsrc-current, maybe that is the problem.

Given how recently 2009Q3 was branched, I would doubt that. What is your $PATH?

Ah, well I thought I was using current because there is no Tag file in the pkgsrc/CVS folder, and I used the following to grab the pkgsrc tree (today):

        setenv CVSROOT anoncvs%anoncvs.se.netbsd.org@localhost:/cvsroot
        setenv CVS_RSH ssh
        cd /usr/pkg
        cvs co -PA pkgsrc

That is indeed pkgsrc-current, but 2009Q3 was branched yesterday, so I doubt much has happened yet. (Well, the usual pent-up list of changes, but as such things go not that much.)

The $PATH when building this was/is:

        # env
PATH=/opt/sunstudio12.1/bin/:/usr/pkg/sbin/:/usr/pkg/bin/:/usr/ sbin:/usr/bin

I wonder what would happen if /usr/pkg/sbin and /usr/pkg/bin were ahead of /opt/sunstudio12.1/bin -- does that directory perchance have an ftp command?

In case this matters:

        # cc -V
        cc: Sun C 5.10 SunOS_i386 2009/06/03
        usage: cc [ options] files. Use 'cc -flags' for details

I think we will have to develop a working beer-over-IP protocol, and related hardware, if we can get this running :-)
