gvfs != gnome-vfs, it a new implementation.

$ pkg_info |grep vfs
gnome-vfs-2.22.0 GNOME Virtual File System (v2)
gnome-vfs-cdda-2.22.0 GNOME Virtual File System (v2) - cdda plugin
gnome-vfs-smb-2.22.0 GNOME Virtual File System (v2) - smb plugin
gvfs-0.2.3nb1       Userspace virtual filesystem
gnome-vfs-monikers-2.15.3nb4 VFS namespace moniker for Bonobo

This is no answer to the $HOME issue, but maybe helps. :)
