I've been using pkgsrc on my Macs for a while now and I must say that  
I am very pleased with how well it works. Most packages that I am  
using work right out of the box.
I mount the source from a NetBSD box using NFS, but both /usr/pkg and  
work/obj-dirs during the build are on case-insensitive HFS+. Haven't  
seen any problems with that yet.
