You don't have a USB flash drive handy? Format that to ext2fs on NetBSD then start your trials, wait for the failure then file check on NetBSD and go into Linux and do file checks as well. Does the file system initialized by NetBSD work without a biolock? Does it cause it? Does the Linux initialized file system have the biolock? In the latter, we know yes. So test for the former.
As has been pointed out, you need a method to work your way to a resolution. Otherwise, you're never going to solve it.
Do you have smartctl installed on your system? Yes, sometimes it fairly useless, but sometimes it can be illuminating.
Just try to be more methodical in your approach. It's not a criticism of you, BTW!
