The packaged version in devel/kbuild from pkgsrc-2026Q2 does build for
me on 11.0 amd64 just fine.  While mails from 2014 may be a good
resource to get an overview of the process, the details might have
changed.

It probably also needs to be updated to something more recent.  I
think vbox tree should mention the required kbuild version (svn
revision) in its readme and I think they do now need something more
recent.

Knut doesn't do releases, but there's no active development either,
only bugfixes, so using SVN head is fine and you don't have to chase
it, just make sure that it uses at least what vbox requires.
