With XVideo, as I understand it, the cpu has to do the decoding. XVideo just scales and puts the image in a video overlay. But still, this appears to be more efficient than what the GL-based methods do. And that surprises me... Maybe in GL the cpu has to push data to the video memory, where XVideo pulls it from cpu memory with DMA?
