There are many system generated mails as well such as cron, security
report, daily and weekly jobs run by the system. There might be more.

As compared to systems where it's a big deal to set up a mail server I
think it's so good that Unix like systems to have it enabled by default
without much fuss. Doesn't hurt at least.
