But I have heard the disk writing after the filesystem was unmounted and
the prompt back. Several seconds after, even one minute or a bit more...

I guess that unfortunately it depends on what the device or the
controller is giving back as answer to the system. The write cache was
enabled (and dkctl listed the write cache as unsettable).

This was with the USB connection.

With SATA, mounting with "sync", I had not such a (bad) surprise.

I will need to see how this behaves when using a NetBSD 8.0/amd64 to see
if it behaves the same as with NetBSD 8.99.50/earmv7hf and Allwinner
components.

If it's the same, then it could also be the docking station (enclose for
disk with USB/eSATA connectivity) behaving
badly (faking speed by telling "done" when nothing is done yet).
