Best 802.11b WLAN device for hostap mode?

Hi,

what is currently the "best" 802.11b WLAN device for hostap mode?
Reading through the man pages, the ones supporting hostap at all often
mention something like:

    The xyz driver supports automatic control of the transmit speed in
BSS mode only. Therefore the use of a rum adapter in Host AP mode is
discouraged.

So which device/driver can be recommended, especially up to 54Mbps?
