I was wondering why nobody asked this ;-)  The server and client(s) make a
certain embedded product which may be connected to any kinds of LANs with
unknown DHCP servers.  The server provides IP addresses to clients and also
acts as a higher level server to the "dumb" clients.  We want to have all
confuration options and functionality on the same server to keep it as simple
as possible to the end user.  The system must also work without a need for
any external devices like DHCP servers.
