Can't eject CD even after unmounting

Seems I can't eject a CD, with eject command or with device button, even
after unmounting it.

Trying to run unmount again says "not mounted" confirming that the device
is not mounted.

Running lsof gives a strange bunch of errors like:

lsof: no pwd entry for UID <somejunknumberilost>


Is there any alternative to lsof / way to resolve above issue with lsof to
know why eject is not being allowed?
